Betty Disharoon Prickett joined the UGA Department of Dance in 1994. She not only serves as a business manager, accountant, course scheduler, and facilitator coordinator to the department, but as an organizational leader. Aside from keeping the department running smoothly and in an organized fashion during both normal and peak performance seasons, Prickett continuously trains the faculty in the latest technology and assists with student advising. She also assists faculty members with the coordination of national, regional, and statewide conventions. Some of these have included the 1995 Southeast Regional American College Dance Festival hosted by the UGA Department of Dance, the 1996 National Dance Association conference, and the 1997 Dance Educators of Georgia Workshop both held in Atlanta, GA. Annually she organizes student and faculty participation and travel at the Southeast American College Dance Conference and other conferences throughout the year.

During the department’s time in the College of Education, Betty served on the College of Education's Staff Representative Group, a committee formed to work on staff issues and concerns from 1997-2002 and as Chair from 2000-2002. In June of 1997, Prickett was awarded the Staff Award for Excellence within the School of Health and Human Performance at the annual College of Education Staff Awards Ceremony and in 2020 received the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences Staff Excellence in Service Award. With a background in dance herself, Prickett has trained in jazz and ballet at The Dancer's Studio/Backstage, Encore, and Athens School of Ballet and occasionally joins in on classes at the department. In November of 2006, Prickett was awarded the Dance Athens Award for Excellence by the Athens dance community. Her sincere dedication and appreciation for the arts is pervasive in her work and provides a great asset to the department.
