Ibrahim (Ibro) Conte, and Sekouna Dioubate as the Yeli Ensemble, along with manager and dancer/musician Windship Boyd demonstrated virtuosity as musicians and dancers in their visit to UGA The lecture demonstration provided insights into the instruments: including the kora, an instrument resembling a harp, that Sekou made himself, and just finished a day before arriving. They also introduced the krin, an instrument made of wood that was originally created for long-distance communication. UGA dance students who participated in the master classes earlier that day demonstrated the dance sequences they learned as the finale of the event. This residency was a collaboration between African Studies Institute, HH School of Music and the Department of Dance as the artists taught dance and music to several classes across campus.
