"Stairs, Chairs, and Squares"

“Stairs, Chairs & Squares” is a playful site-specific dance piece created for performance on the Performing and Visual Arts Complex quad outside the Georgia Museum of Art. Created entirely over Zoom, this project is a collaboration between the Georgia Museum of Art, UGA’s Department of Dance and Cornfield Dance Company, presented in conjunction with the exhibition “The Art of Seating: 200 Years of American Design.”

Spotlight on the Arts 2020

Presented by the UGA Arts Council, the 2020 Spotlight on the Arts festival will feature dozens of events and exhibitions in the visual, literary and performing arts. This year's festival, scheduled for November 4-20 will include both virtual and in-person performances and exhibitions that maintain social distancing. Planning is currently underway, and listing of events and more information is available on the Spotlight on the Arts festival page.

UGA Dance Day

UGA DANCE DAY offers high school dance students an opportunity to come to the UGA Athens Campus to dance all day.  Students will take classes with faculty and guest artists in contemporary dance, ballet, jazz, tap, and aerial yoga/dance trapeze, and eat lunch at the UGA Snelling Dining Hall. They will also have the opportunity to talk to UGA faculty and dance majors, and attend the evening concert by CORE Contemporary and Aerial Dance.  The classes are free, but st

CORE Contemporary and Aerial Dance

CORE Contemporary & Aerial Dance, artistic director Bala Sarasvati and fourteen performers, will premiere Soul Searching for the 2020 UGA Department of Dance annual season. The evening’s nonstop multimedia show explores personal, cultural, political and environmental perceptions about current and immanent global issues. The aerial and contemporary dance performance is enhanced through a visual landscape incorporating projection mapping, animation and film. The company will perform on silks, slings, lyras, trapeze and bungee.
